Krav Maga is an Israeli Self Defense System designed for the Israeli Defense Forces (IDF). It focuses on real world scenarios for survival, ultimately teaching students how to effectively and efficiently protect their life.
Krav Maga is a combative art, not a martial art, as in it is not designed for competition nor are there rules. You do not need to be a martial artist or athlete to effectively use Krav Maga. It is designed to save your life. Therefore it is accessible to the average person.
At Born Strong, we feel real world education is crucial for a safer, stronger community. Everyone can learn Krav Maga, regardless of skill level. Through proper education, repetition, and increased levels of real world training, Krav is an exciting and essential life skill that anyone can attain. We hope to provide this training and education to as many families as possible, so they can feel confident and safe in their community.
Real Life scenarios are different for different age groups. While a 2nd grader may experience a bully, a teenager could experience a parking lot attack.
Our curriculum is designed to address these scenarios for particular age groups, and ensure that students are not receiving content that is dangerous to their mental wellness.
Building confidence is key. Building awareness and strength follows, and as a student grows with Born Strong, their education increases and they enter adulthood with life saving knowledge and skill sets that can enhance careers in Law Enforcement, Fire Rescue, Armed Forces, Education and more.
Taekwondo is a Korean martial art and combat sport, technically focusing on kicking, striking, and patterns. At Born Strong we feel this traditional and foundational art is beneficial, fun and creates a gateway for character discussion such as discipline, respect and perseverance.
Muay Thai, sometimes referred to as The Art of Eight Limbs, is a Thai martial art and full contact combat sport. Its emphasis on stand-up strikes, sweeps and clinching techniques tie it into our Krav Maga and MMA training, and provide another level of education and skillset to our students.
Grappling consists of sweeps, ground fighting and submission holds. It is used heavily in MMA, and can be used sparingly in Muay Thai competition. In Krav Maga, we also learn to defend and stand from the ground, which makes this part of our training another set of building blocks to further our students' education and strength.
We feel these styles combined enhance our curriculum and round out our real world scenario, modern martial arts system.
